DAPC recognises that training for Councillors and Clerks of member Councils is increasingly important. This issue has been highlighted by the Quality Parish Scheme, where having a trained Clerk and well informed Councillors is key to achieving Quality Status. DAPC has put in place a training programme to help train and inform both Clerks and Councillors.  Below are the details of the training events that are running at present.

8/14/2008  -  New Councillors Short Course   

Date: 20th October                             Time: 7.00 - 9.30pm

Venue: St Boniface Centre, Crediton         Cost: £25

This course is designed for newly elected Councillors and gives an introduction to the roles and responsibiities of the position.
8/4/2008  -  Life Long Learning Network Conference  (Role of the Town/Parish Council in Devon) 
Date: 11th September 2008                       Venue: Newton Abbot Racecourse

This conference will throw light on the role of Town and Parish Councils in Devon today – Outcomes, Implications and Actions arising from the recent Life Long Learning Research project.
Date: 23rd September                                      Time: 10.00 - 4.00

This course is aimed at improving the knowledge, expertise and confidence of volunteer playground managers/clerks to councils or local councillors.
Date: 6th October                                           Time: 10.00 - 4.00pm

Venue: Clinton Hall, Merton (Torridge)        Cost: £30

This course is aimed at improving the knowledge, expertise and confidence of volunteer playground managers/clerks to parish councils or local councillors.

Venue: Cardinal Newman, Exeter                 Cost: £10 per Council

This course is aimed at councils working towards/or interested in reviewing Quality Status.
5/19/2008  -  New Clerks 2 Day Training   
Date: 16th October and 6th November          Time: 10.00 - 4.00pm

Venue: Cardinal Newman, Exeter                   Cost:: £35 per day

This course is aimed at the new Clerk or those Clerks looking to update their knowledge
